IIMM – Mumbai Branch Awards -2011.

Dear Colleagues:

You must have seen my earlier Mail seeking nominations from your Organisation and Individual Professionals to participate in the several professional awards instituted by Mumbai Branch of Indian Institute of Materials Management.

I have pleasure in giving some guidelines on different criteria on which the various nominations will be assessed and evaluated.

You are welcome to add any other criteria which you feel relevant in the context.

Due to demands from our constituents, we have extended the Last Date to receive nominations to 13th August, 2011, 5:00 pm.

GUIDELINES : CRITERIA FOR AWARDS.

UNITOP Award

  • Delivering Innovation from Suppliers.

  • Anticipating and Mitigating Supply Risks.

  • Expanding the Impact of Cost Management efforts.

  • Contributing broadly to Revenue generation.

Cheminor Award

  • Develop Robust and Forward looking Category Strategies

  • Developing value added relationship with suppliers.

  • Developing and Operating Multiple Supply Networks.

  • Leveraging Technology for Internal productivity.

  • Collaborating internally across functions and externally with suppliers and customers.

  • Attracting and Retaining Supply Management talent.

  • MM Profession Development

  • Whether Organisation is a member of professional bodies like IIMM/ BMA/AIMA etc

  • whether Purchase & Supply Mgt staff are constantly trained for improving their knowledge base ?

  • Whether organisation has a" Purchase Manual and delegation of authorities" which is updated on a regular basis?

  • Extent of use of I.T for leveraging Technology in the Materials management function and the key benefits accrued .

  • Give % of Procurement through e- procurement and % of Scrap Disposals thru E-auction route

  • Steps taken to reduce Inventory on "year on year basis" and quantum achieved .

Dear Fellow Professionals,

 

IIMM leads the professional development in the field of Supply Management covering the entire gamut of Purchasing / Materials / Logistics / Warehousing and Supply Chain Management thru various activities. One of the ways to promote this cause is by recognizing the achievers and facilitate sharing of success stories and best practices among the fraternity.

We are pleased to invite nominations for the IIMM, Mumbai Branch Awards for 2011. The various categories of awards are as follows:

 

  • Unitop Award – To recognize an individual professional for significant contribution in the field of Supply Management

  • Cheminor Award – To recognize an organization for significant contribution in the field of to the Supply Management

  • Best Faculty (Branch) Award – To honour the best faculty for supporting the branch educational offering.

We had constituted two new awards last year – as follows:

  • Award for Best Warehousing Practices – A good warehouse contributes immensely to the speed, savings and overall success of an organization. This award has been constituted to recognise the best practices in warehouse designs and management.

  • Award for Innovation in Supply Management – There has been an organized effort especially by some large corporate houses to leverage the power of innovation. The award has been constituted to recognize organizations for promoting and implementing innovative practices in Supply Management.

The nominations will be screened by a Panel of Experts and finally judged by a Panel of Jury comprising of eminent personalities from industry and academics.

The last date for receiving the nominations is July 31st , 2011. The awards will be presented at a function during the last week of August, 2011.

Our humble request is to make the best of this opportunity to support the cause of Supply Management.

General Rules
1. Nomination form is sent herewith. It can also be downloaded from our website (www.iimmmumbai.org) or can be obtained from the branch office.
2. Any person in individual capacity or an organization having place of business in and around Mumbai can file the nominations.
3. Nomination requests can be filed for self or for others i.e. other professionals or organizations. In case nominations are received for others, IIMM, Mumbai Branch will seek their permission before processing the nominations.
4. Experts from the Panel may talk to or visit the organizations who have sent in the nominations or meet the individuals in person as a part of the screening process.
5. The The Panel of Experts will screen the nominations and recommend the best three in each category to the Panel of Jury.

The Panel of Experts consists of :
a. Mr. A R Sarkar – General Manager Purchase (Retd), B.P.C.L,
b. R S Jhunjhunwalla – General Manager Purchase (Retd), Grasim and Management Consultant.
c. Mr. P H Gupta – D G M Materials (Retd) , ONGC and Management Consultant.
7. IIMM Mumbai Branch may invite more professionals to join the Panel of Experts to strengthen the process.
8. The last date to send the nominations is 31st July, 2011 .

10. The Panel of Jury will be announced on July 18th, 2011 on our website (www.iimmmumbai.org) .
11. The Best Faculty (Branch) Award will be judged by the Branch Education Committee.

Winners of 2010 Awards

The prestigious awards for 2010 were presented to:

Unitop Award – Mr. Arun Karambelkar, then Executive Vice President (Integrated Resource Management), HCC Ltd. He has been recently elected as a Full Time Director in the same organisation.

Cheminor Award – Nuclear Power Corporation of India. Award received by Mr. S C Goeal, Executive Director ...........

Best Faculty (Branch) Award – Mr. Dilip Telang. Extremely popular among IIMM students, he is a visiting faculty to al leading management institutes in Mumbai as well as IIMM, Bangalore. He is also a Gold Medalist Alumni of GDMM from IIMM.

Award for Best Warehousing Practices – Prologistics.........

Award for Innovation in Supply Management – The jury decided not to present this award after scrutinising the nominations., since the level of innovation did not deserve the award.

The distinguished Panel of Jury for the Awards 2010 comprised of:

IIMM Honours Achievers in Supply Management Domain


Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM), the only national body of management professionals in materials, purchase, warehousing, stores / inventory management, logistics and supply chain of 35 years standing in the country. It has 39 Branches and 19 Chapters in the length and breadth of the country. IIMM’s avowed Mission is purveying and propagation of knowledge and skills in the Supply Chain domain.

 

Mumbai Branch is the biggest Branch in terms of Membership, students and alumni strength and volume and quality of professional activities. In order to recognize and honour achievers , both Individuals and Corporates, in various activities of the profession, namely, Teaching, Innovation and Significant Contributions in Warehousing Practices, Mumbai Branch has instituted several Awards in these categories.

The nominations were screened by a Panel of Experts and finally adjudged by a Panel of Jury. The Awards carry a Trophy and a Citation. The Awards Presentation was held in a glittering ceremony on Saturday, 14th August, 2010, 7:30 pm at Hotel Tip-Top Plaza, near Check Naka, Thane West, 400 062.


The Winners received their Awards at the hands of Mr.PK Guha, CEO & Jt.MD, Zuventus Healthcare Ltd., in the presence of an elite gathering of professionals from Industry and Academia. He commended the historic role of IIMM in dissemination of supply chain knowledge and practices and encouraging and honouring talents in the field of supply management.
